CHANGE OBSERVED IN LAST QUARTER (JULY-Sept) in HARIT PRAYAS field Sagar
1. Context : This quarter was a memorable and important period in the history of the ‘Harit Prayas’ project because the project has crossed its half way. Being the rainy season the project was centred around the agricultural activities.  Apart from this project also focused on the trainings and awareness programmes related to different government schemes. It was also a crucial time for the project as there were two ‘Gramsabhas’ in which they discuss and plan for coming financial and working year.
It was a remarkable moment that a ‘Pachayat’ level training was conducted in the village of ‘Sawalkhiriya’ in which personals from ‘Jilla Pachayat’ and CBOs participated and facilitated as resource persons. The marking thing was that a CBO member inspired the entire team by his life example of vast and large scale organic farming.  His depth knowledge about the organic farming and its current and future implication was a matter of discussion among the entire crowd present there.  It was also remarkable that Mr. Ramesh Soni, officials from ‘Jilla Pachayat’ assured the people full support from his side on all their endeavors.  Other distinguishing incident was that the exposure visits of ‘Mahila Mandals’ to ‘Krishi Vigyan Kendra’ and ‘Manav Vikas’, Sagar.  It was an enriching and life giving experience to women from different parts of our project area, ‘Rehli’ block.

2.Change factor:  The voiceless, sidelined,  marginalized farmers of ‘Rehli’ block live their daily livings through different daily activities.  Their  source of livings is multiple.  The inhabitants of the villages were not aware of their rights.  They had no idea of the schemes that government had allocated for them such as MGNREGA and FRA.    But after the intervention of ‘Harit Prayas’ team there was a change overwhelmingly.   They are described below:
Situation before the project
Situation after 18 months of the project
A CHANGE FACTOR!
People were not aware of organic farming and its usefulness and its future implication
As output 3 pointed to improve agricultural organic practices in terms of
Manure and practices. Now people know the usefulness and implications of organic farming.  People are interested in practising this zero budgeted manuering.
Farmers could’nt get organised and did’nt know their rights
There were no farmers clubs and now there are farmers clubs functioning and they are practising organic farming. Out of 24 villages of our intervention, in 21 villages we have farmers clubs having 291 members.
People weren’t aware about their rights and duties
Now people know that it is their right to get 100 days of work within their ‘Pachayat’ that also within 5 kilometers.  And people realise that it is their duty to participate in the ‘Gramsabha’ as they have to plan for their village and families. More than 100  people participated in the two ‘Gramsabhas’ that took place within this three months of time.
Women weren’t organised and were’nt aware about their strength
Now we have 15 ‘Mahila Mandals’ functioning well. 9 MM have already opened account in the banks.  And our team in progress in opening accounts and the formation of the new groups.   Now within the groups there are inter loaning and income generation programme. Now women realise that they can become a more effective member in the family as they have a major role in the family in farming, daily living and childrens’ education.
Marginalised people were sidelined and suppressed and they remained voiceless.
Now people belonging to backward community know that they have their own rights and nobody can prevent them.  3 people belonging to ST community strongly stand on their feet to fight for their right.  Their docements relating to the land patta are ready but they are not receiving patta due to unknown reasons. Now they have decided to file an RTI.  And they are more convinced by our support and presence.  This is the case with the other people also.  Now people know the power of RTI and when to use it.
