Vaccination Drive in the field of Harit Prayas, Jhansi

Jhansi Catholic Seva Samaj, Jhansi is an implementing partner in Jhansi U.P. of project HARIT PRAYAS. In this season with the awareness drive on livestock management villagers took intereset for better care and management of cattles. with the plan Project Manager Prakash Singh met with local Veterinary doctors and prepared schedule dividing seperate dates for different villages of Babina Block of Jhansi. Our cluster coordinator Pramod & Mukesh are very active in fields & till now with the effort of Jhansi Harit Prayas team at JCSS more than 10 village covered with a rate of 90% success rate of vaccination and remaining will be completed in this month of july only and the most important thing in Harit prayas project we are not confined to our 20 project village , we have run the drive in nearby villages also . because Harit prayas believes in development of all . for poor their land and livestock are the most important for earning livelihood, and we care for them. Harit Prayas @JCSS is actively partcipating in social development sustaining livelihood tools in society........

Background

This case study will reveal the impact of demo plots that was created by harit prayas and how a farmers named Sanjay Kurmi of village Sawal Kheriya, got benefited through it. In this case study we will try to reveal the impact of doing organic farming through traditional means and then converting the degraded land with good productivity.

Harit Prayas Impact:

In the month of November team harit prayas planned to create demo plots in a small area like a kitchen garden and then let villagers decide which is more beneficial chemical or organic farming. The decision was taken to give 5 kg of seeds to every farmer who creates demo plots. This man Sanjay kurmi used to came in all the training sessions and was very enthusiastic regarding practices of organic farming. He practiced all the techniques like “Use of locally available Seed, Use of Bio fertilizers, Use of Amrit Pani, Use of Ancient Technique for weeding, Making of Vermi Compost. This man was convinced and was patient and waited for the right time for harvesting and the result was tremendous.

Result

To his surprise in the area of 25 dec with 5kg of seeds the productivity came around 3.78 quintals and the cost was not more than 100. So in this season he planned to do organic farming in 1 acre of land and later in the next season he is planning to increase his area. Seeing him many other farmers have also got motivated to do the same work.

Inaugurations of Farmers club by NABARD@Jhansi

In the month of February HP @JCSS inaugurated farmers club of the project villages. Bajrang KISAN CLUB of Purabadera village was inaugurated on 20 feb 2013 by Dr. Ajay Niranjan, (VET), Babina. He officially announced the club after being linked it with NABARD. He emphasized on the collective effort of farmers for social as well as personal development. Project Manager Prakash Singh spoke on the benefits and utilization of farmers club for developmental works. Team HaritPrayas was present there with 57 farmers in the village.
