Policy change advocacy through HARIT PRAYAS in Bundelkhand region!

With HARIT PRAYAS, we have established a model in Bundelkhad region (in Jhansi region) and slowly with it  we are entering in to the policy change in the Budnelkhad region in collaboration with the government and media houses. Policy change in the form of:

• System for subsidy on organic inputs in sustainable agriculture development.
• Working days in NREGA – 130 + days in a year
• Panchayat resource centers at panchayats in Bundelkhand region
• Promotion of low cost sustainable agriculture based government programmes

In fulfilling this we have established collaboration with government institutions ( KVK, NABARD, ITI), government programmes (NRLM, NREGA) , government offices (BDO, District Collector) , Panchayats and media houses  on one hand , where as institutionalising community based and managed structures in the form of farmers club and Mahila Mandals and linking it with above said institutions and sharing their work with a large community through media houses in the Bundelkhand region and at National level and thus this above said entire policy changes are taking place in Bundelkhad region with effort from HARIT PRAYAS!

Strengthening linkages with NABARD@HARIT PRAYAS Jhansi

On 10 January 2013 linkage of farmer club was done @ Bamer village. In the meeting a awareness session on government schemes, social security is also held after that village Pradhan & Vetenary doctor, Dr. R.K. Tripathi from Raksha veterinary hospital had formally inaugurated SIDDH KISAN CLUB after being linked with NABARD. Dr. R. K. Tripathi checked and verified all documents and register of farmer club and offered the proposal for loan facilitation through veterinary department for farmers’ club collective effort for income generation programme. From this linkage now farmers are ready to use funds in income generation actives. HARIT PRAYAS Jhansi Team was present in programme. 70 people participated in event. The evnt has also covered by the leading  news papers of the region.

HARIT PRAYAS strengthening NREGA in tribal pockets@Sagar

The is a story from village “Pipariya narsingh” of “Kadatha” panchayat their is a villager name “Ramkumar Aadi”, his family is a BPL family and was very deprived although he has the job card but was not able to work in MNREGA for more than 20 – 25 days previously. There are total 5 members in this family with 2 daughter and 1 son. The situation was getting critical for him when our cluster coordinator name “Raja Patel” in the concent with Sarpanch name Mrs. Sada Rani Thakur and our team motivated this villager to work, sarpanch was female so her husband was the acting sarpanch, he supported well and we are proud to tell that in this month he got 14days work in MNREGA. it was upto the field coordinator to check the daily motions and carry out the activities as per the plan, they tried well and result is visible. He was getting less than Rs 132 previously but now he is getting the daily wages according to MNERGA norms. So, it worked for him and now he is earning his livelihood.

Empowering rural youths with skills of trades@HARIT PRAYAS Jhansi

     Youth being the future of nation “HARIT PRAYAS” is focusing on unemployed youth who are drop outs due to their finances. We had a youth self employment programme under which we identified 15 youth and imparted them self employment training and ato attach them in NRLM institutes like-  WELDER, FITTER, ELECTRICIAN, COMPUTER and mobile repairing etc. 8 youth got placement in companies like Bajaj, Honda, Maruti, Khaitan On the salary of 9300/- Rs. Each after got trained under NRLM. And some have started their own shops and earning 250-300/- Rs daily. And in this month 28 youth also enrolled them self for the vocational training with the initiative of harit prayas @JCSS.

HARIT PRAYAS hi meri pehchan hein ( HARIT PRAYAS is my identity)-A cover story

Based on the ownership and benefits of community by HARIT PRAYAS project in Bundelkhand region, almost 7 months back, a small village named Majhota in Chatarpur district (Madhya Pradesh) has renamed by community and gram panchayat as HARIT PRAYAS Majhota, and has become India’s 1st village to named on any development project. Now people and different agencies from different places are visiting this village to know the impact and are learning from it. Recently a leading media house has covered a story (find attached paper cutting) on HARIT PRAYAS Majhota village, where villages have shared that:

• With the name HARIT PRAYAS Majhota is now being used in all official documents from ration card to BPL card and from bank account to marriage/cultural functions card.
• Recently they have applied all the BPL cards with village name as HARIT PRAYAS Majhota.

What bigger changes are happening with the change in name?

Villagers from HARIT PRAYAS Majhota shared that now almost every 3^rd day there is visit by any agency or individuals to the village to know about it and process of organic cultivation and to share about village, Farmers club of HARIT PRAYAS Majhota has developed a strategic plan where they have started charging fees (INR 500/- as resource fee and Food charges-depend on number of pax) with receipt from the institutions who are visiting to village. In return of the fees two members of Farmers Club take the lead and make the team to visit village and also take few sessions with the team on low cost organic cultivation.  The amount collected from resource fee is being deposited in farmers club account and villagers are planning to utilise this money for the common purpose in the form of purchasing utensils for the cooking food in marriages and other functions.
